Airtel has recently started 5G trials in Gurugram and it seems that even Reliance Jio does not want to be left behind. The company has reportedly started 5G trials in Mumbai. A report claims that the company is using self-developed technology for this trial. Let us tell you that the company had recently applied to start 5G trials in Mumbai as well as Delhi, Hyderabad, and Gujarat and the company appears to have got the approval for Mumbai.
TechRadar’s report says that Reliance Jio is conducting 5G trials in Mumbai and domestic technology is being used for this trial. Even though the company is using in-house technology for the Mumbai trial, but according to the report, the company has joined hands with Ericsson and Nokia for 5G trials in Delhi and Pune respectively. Apart from this, in Gujarat, the company is planning to start 5G trials in collaboration with Samsung.
The DoT had provided 700MHz, 3.2GHz to 3.6GHz, and 24.25Ghz to 28.5GHz bands for 5G trials to Jio, Airtel, and Vi (Vodafone Idea). In May 2021, the department had allowed all telecom operators to conduct trials for six months to start 5G technology in India, after which these companies are gradually starting the process of trial. Airtel has recently started 5G trials in Gurugram.
In Mumbai, the company is going to use both mid and mm-wave bands along with its own 5G infrastructure. Earlier this year, the company had revealed that it has developed a 5G radio that will provide high-speed internet up to 1Gbps to users in conjunction with the company’s developed technology Jio’s 5G smartphones.
Jio is organizing its annual meet AGM on June 24, in which we can get to hear big announcements regarding 5G. In the same meet, there may also be some announcements about the 5G features being developed by the company and an ‘affordable’ 5G smartphone.
