Google to tighten Play Retailer guidelines round in-app purchases, report says

Google reportedly plans to replace its Play app retailer tips to make clear that the majority apps on its platform should use the tech large’s billing service for in-app downloads, sport upgrades and subscriptions. This method lets Google take a 30% minimize of in-app purchases. Although the Play Store requirement related to in-app purchases has existed for years, some main builders have sidestepped the rule, in line with Bloomberg. After Google updates its tips, the tech large will reportedly give builders time to replace their apps. 

The reported change comes as Google faces a lawsuit from Fortnite developer Epic Video games. In August, Fortnite was kicked off both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store after trying to bypass the 30% fee the companies charge developers. Epic sued each firms in response. 

Epic’s lawsuit in opposition to Google accuses the tech large of abandoning its idealistic roots and says Android’s declare that it is an open ecosystem is a “damaged promise.”
