Micromax in 2b: Micromax’s In 2b smartphone is an entry-level model that focuses on the basics.
These entry-level smartphones may not be for everyone. These phones are intended to be used as a starting phone for people who have already switched from a feature phone or as acceptable compromises for those with very limited budgets.
Many of these phones don’t get the basics right and they can’t deliver smooth, lag-free software experiences.
Micromax’s In 2b smartphone aims to address at least some of those pain points that are often associated with entry-level smartphones.
Prices start at Rs. It is priced at Rs. 7,999 and features the unusual Unisoc T610 processor. The company claims that it delivers superior performance than SoCs made by other manufacturers in the segment.
This is a bold move, as In 1b’s predecessor used the MediaTek Helio G35 SoC. Micromax promises regular software updates, a clean Android experience, and no preloaded bloatware. How does the ‘Made in India smartphone compare to other smartphones?
Two variants of the Micromax In 2b are available. The Micromax In 2b comes with a 4GB RAM option and 64GB storage option. It is available at Rs. 7,999 in India and a 6GB RAM with 64GB storage option at Rs. 8,999 Each variant can store up to 256GB using a microSD card slot within the SIM tray. In 2b comes in three colors: blue, black, or green. For review, I was given a green unit.
It looks very similar to its predecessor, In 1b. The phone also has a noticeable similarity to the Redmi 9 Power Review, which is also available in the same colors, except for Fiery Red.
The back is a smooth, grooved texture which gives it a shiny sheen at all angles. It is also free from fingerprints and smudges.
The fingerprint reader is located in the upper right corner of the back, near the camera module. You will also find the speaker in the lower right corner of the back.
The Type-C USB port and the 3.5mm headphone socket are located at the bottom. While the volume and power buttons can be found on the right, they are located at the bottom.
Micromax In 2b features a 6.52-inch LCD screen with what it calls Rainbow Glass. This HD+ resolution LCD display features a V-shaped cut at the top to allow for front-facing cameras.
Micromax has previously worked with Unisoc, but the T610 processor is a new one that has only been available in a handful of smartphones worldwide. It is made using a 12nm manufacturing process and has six Cortex A55 cores and two ARM Cortex A75 cores.
The two cameras at its back, which are entry-level devices, are very basic. The device has a 13-megapixel primary camera as well as a depth sensor of 2MP which is used for Portrait mode activation. The front features a 5-megapixel selfie camera.
Micromax In 2b comes with a 5,000mAh lithium battery and a 10W charging cable. This smartphone runs Android 11.1.1, which is close to stock. Micromax promises software updates that are guaranteed and no bloatware.
Other than the standard Google apps, there was only one FM Radio app and Sound Recorder that came preinstalled. You can configure the Settings app to make adjustments to the camera and display, as well as gestures.
Micromax In 2b is a great device to use. It runs Android 11 at a close stock version and minimizes bloatware.
The In 2b is still a good choice against the Poco C3Rs 7,999, Realme C21 (Review), Realme Narzo (30ARs 8,999) (Review). To find out how the phone performs, its cameras and battery compare to what is available at these prices, we will need to test it. Stay tuned for our complete review.
