Microsoft Teams, a video conferencing service, is getting a host of new updates, including the ability to use custom photos as background images during video calls. The feature is available to users of the free version of the platform and Indian customers of Teams can also use it. Users of the free version of Microsoft Team can now also schedule meetings and share links through Outlook or Google Calendar. In a blog post, the Redmond company stated that team customers in the US can turn on live captions during their calls and meetings.
The Microsoft team has also created an option to schedule meetings for free edition customers.
With the latest upgrade to the platform, Microsoft is hoping to give a tough competition to competitors such as Zoom and Google Meat. In a blog post for Microsoft 365, Jared Spataro announced that the recent updates are the result of a growing user of Teams amid the global epidemic.
Custom background on microsoft team
Starting with new custom background effects on the Microsoft team, the company notes that users can customize the background by uploading their own images or choosing one of the available backgrounds online. The platform already allows users to choose a particular background during a video call in addition to the option to blur the background.
Microsoft is also adding event-specific background collections for its users. From June 16, users can download exclusive LGBTQI + background photos to celebrate the proud month. To upload a custom photo during a team video call, users must select more tasks on the screen (indicated by three horizontal dots)> Show Background Effect> Click Add New.
Other new features on the Microsoft team
Microsoft is also adding new features to the free version of its video conferencing platform. With the new update, the team says, Teams Free version customers can work from home and connect “effectively.”
Free version users are now able to schedule meetings and send invitations in advance. This capability is based on the current capacity of “Meat Now”. Meeting schedulers have the option of copying the meeting link to send directly to other participants or to send an invitation via Outlook or Google Calendar.
Microsoft states in the post that the much requested schedule feature is being rolled out for current users, while users who are just signing up will “experience it soon”. Additionally, team customers in the US will soon be able to use live captions during the teams call.
Meanwhile, the company announced last month that the Teams platform was expanding its group call participants limit to 250. The current limit on the video conferencing platform is 100.
