OnePlus Nord 2 5G First Impressions: The OnePlus Nord 2 5G is priced at Rs. 27999 in India

To focus on sub-Rs, the OnePlus Nord was launched last July. 25,000 price segment. The OnePlus Nord was a promising model that offered good performance for a slightly lower price than the flagships. It has been discontinued.

This opens the door to a more affordable model, called the Nord CE 5G, and its true successor the OnePlus Nord 2 5G. The new OnePlus smartphone features a MediaTek Dimensity CPU and a better camera setup. Is it still able to deliver the OnePlus experience Here are my initial impressions of the OnePlus Nord 2 5G?

OnePlus Nord 2 Price in India

The OnePlus Nord 2 is priced at Rs. The base variant of the OnePlus Nord 2 starts at Rs. 27,999 in India. It has 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The OnePlus Nord 2 also comes in two variants: one with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and the other with 12GB RAM with 256GB storage.

These models are priced at Rs. These are priced at Rs. 29,999 and Rs. 34,999 respectively. The latter is Rs. 29,999 and the former 34,999. For review, I was able to have the top-of-the-line version.

The OnePlus Nord 2 looks similar to the OnePlus 9 series and appears in place with the OnePlus Nord CE 5G. (Review). The OnePlus Nord 2 instantly feels premium when you touch it. The display measures 6.43 inches and has a camera hole at the top left corner to allow 32-megapixel selfies.

The OnePlus Nord 2 5G features an AMOLED display that has a Full-HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 90Hz. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protects the display and the back.

Plastic is used to make the OnePlus Nord 2 5G’s mid-frame. It has the power button on the right and the alert slider on the left. The volume and power buttons are on the left. The button placement was excellent and easy to reach.

The USB Type-C port and loudspeaker are located at the bottom. The secondary mic is located at the top. Dual speakers are available on the OnePlus Nord 2 5G. The earpiece doubles as the secondary speaker, allowing for stereo sound.

The OnePlus Nord 2 5G’s back features a triple camera setup. The camera module is somewhat similar to the OnePlus 9R (Review). The camera module includes a 50-megapixel primary with an f/1.88 aperture, OIS and EIS.

An 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with EIS, f/2.25 aperture, and EIS is also included. The two cameras look big, while the mono 2-megapixel camera sits right next to the flash. The OnePlus logo can be found in the middle of the rear panel.

The OnePlus Nord 2 5G is available in three colors: Gray Sierra, Blue Haze, and India’s exclusive Green-Wood. Blue Haze was the unit I used, and it didn’t pick up smudges easily. OnePlus includes a case with every order.

The phone is 8.25mm thick and weighs in at 189g. The phone is easy to use one-handed and doesn’t feel bulky.

According to both companies, OnePlus chose a MediaTek Dimensity1200 processor that has been modified with AI processing power to create Dimensity 1200-AI.

It is not surprising, considering that all previous OnePlus devices have used Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. There are three RAM options: 6GB, 8GB, and 12GB. The lower storage option has 128GB and the higher one has 256GB.

The storage is not expandable. Nord 2 5G has only two Nano-SIM slots that support dual 5G. You can also use WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC as well as five satellite navigation systems. The Nord 2 5G comes with a 4,500mAh lithium battery and a Warp Charge 65W charging cable.

The OnePlus Nord 2 5G runs OxygenOS 11.3, based on Android 11. My unit received the June Android security update. The UI is simple and preinstalled only a few Google apps and OnePlus apps. The UI was easy to navigate and I found it intuitive.

My review unit had 12GB RAM, so it was easy to unlock. The MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI, which OnePlus claims have additional features, showed a lot of promise. Review of the Realme X7 Max 5G and the upcoming Poco F3 GT.

They both have the same SoC. It’ll be interesting seeing how the OnePlus Nord 2 5G performs.

Based on its specs, the OnePlus Nord 2 5G looks like a significant upgrade to the original Nord. It has also gone up in cost, so it will be interesting to see whether this new smartphone is still a good deal or if you would be better off with the Nord CE 5G.
