Realme GT First Impressions – The Makings Of A ‘Flagship Killer”

Realme GT First Impressions: The new Realme GT appears to offer all the bells, whistles, and features of a flagship killer. It also comes at a reasonable price.

It was created by OnePlus, Xiaomi took it and Poco took over. However, it’s been a while since a smartphone maker has used it. The “flagship killer” tag is used to describe a smartphone with premium hardware but at a low price.

The Realme GT was just launched at Rs. The Realme GT was launched at Rs. 37,999 and boasts a top-notch processor as well as many other impressive specifications. Although it isn’t the most affordable model, it’s still cheaper than top-end models like Apple, Samsung, and OnePlus. It is sure to attract the attention of anyone who is looking for a mid-range, expensive smartphone.

The top and bottom of the Realme GT frame have been flattened. Racing Yellow is a combination of plastic and vegan leather that I received as a review. It has a racing-inspired theme. You can also get the phone in Dashing Silver or Dashing Blue with glass backs.

The Racing Yellow model’s back panel is made from polycarbonate with a layer of vegan leather. This makes it easy to hold. The GT’s camera module appears to blend in with the black polished stripe running along the back. Realme GT’s frame is made from plastic.

The power button can be found on the right, while the volume buttons and SIM tray can be found on the left. Stereo speakers are featured in the Realme GT with the earpiece acting as a second speaker.

The display is 6.43 inches in size and features a full-HD+ Super-AMOLED display. It has a 120Hz refresh rate as well as a maximum 360Hz touch sampling speed. This should prove useful for gamers who are interested in playing video games.

Asahi’s Dragontrail Glass protects the display and has a hole-punch cutout to accommodate the camera. It appears bright (Realme claims 1,000-nits peak brightness), but there was no HDR10 support when Netflix opened.

Realme UI 2.0 is based upon Android 11. The UI is focused on personalization and several third-party applications were preinstalled. The OS felt snappy in my first use.

A smartphone that is focused on gaming and performance, it was surprising to see a 4,500mAh capacity battery on the specification sheet. The box contains a 65W Super Dart charger.

Realme GT has a 64-megapixel primary camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. There is also a 2-megapixel macro camera. A 16-megapixel front camera handles selfie duties.

You can choose from 8GB or 12GB RAM versions with 128GB or 256GB storage. Prices start at Rs 37,999 For review, we received the 12GB RAM variant and the 256GB storage version. Both configurations come with a dual-Nano SIM tray and have no storage expansion.

Although the Realme GT looks like a flagship contender, it lacks features such as an IP rating or wireless charging. It is also 2021 and brands can’t be too aggressive in pricing with 5G processors.

Although the Realme GT’s cost isn’t exactly a “flagship killer”, buyers will be attracted to it by its premium features and ability to compete with smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE5G (Review), and iQoo 7 Legend(Review). It is a joy to test it and put it through its paces. Stay tuned for my full review.
