Apple has recently made an effort to differentiate its Pro phones from its regular iPhone models. But according to a recent rumor, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus may adopt a design element found on the latest iPhone Pro models.
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will allegedly have a back panel made of frosted glass, according to a Weibo user posting under the name Setsuna Digital(opens in new tab). Compared to the glossy back surface currently featured on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, that would be a difference.

If the Weibo user’s assertion is accurate, the normal iPhone 15 devices may resemble the iPhone 14 Pro models much more, which have a matte glass back with a frosted appearance. We would anticipate that the iPhone 15 Pro models that will be released this fall will have a different design given Apple’s evident aim to highlight the differences between the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro.
Setsuna Digital shared more design information on Weibo than just that one. The leaker asserted that Apple would release the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus in a “cyan” color in a subsequent post (opens in new tab). This appears to be comparable to the green color choice for the iPhone 12 in terms of appearance.
Apple has recently offered the regular iPhone in five colors and the Pro variants in four. You’d have to think that [Product] Red and Midnight and Starlight, which are black and white to you commoners, are going to be back for the iPhone 15. The light blue, pink, and now the cyan green option, which is three rumored colors, are the remaining two possible color options.
Even if the alleged iPhone 15 enhancements aren’t as exciting as potential iPhone 15 Pro updates, Apple should still be working on some fresh ideas for its entry-level flagship. All iPhone 15 models are rumored to switch to USB-C over Lightning for charging, and we anticipate the iPhone 15 will use the A16 Bionic processor that powers the iPhone 14 Pro models right now.
Since the rumored iPhone 15 won’t be released until September at the earliest, we still have a few months to wait before finding out if they are true. For the most recent rumors and leaks, visit our iPhone 15 site in the interim.
